The keynote address by Tina Roth Eisenberg on March 10 was wonderful. Tina is known by her blog and Twitter handle SwissMiss (www.swiss-miss.com). She is a graphic designer who is originally from Switzerland and currently resides in New York City. She also runs a co-working space (Studiomates), invented a to-do app called TeuxDeux, runs a temporary tattoo company called Tattly, and organizes a monthly lecture series called CreativeMornings.

In other words, she keeps busy.

That’s why her talk was so amazing! Here is this insanely productive woman, with awesome projects as credit to her name, and all the work doesn’t phase her. She embraces work-life balance, something I’m aspiring towards. To her work should be fun, not “work.” I completely agree!

Her keynote shared her 11 rules for life. I’ve noted what they are below, but you really need to take the time to watch her presentation so you can hear her stories and examples to fully grasp how great they are. The video from her talk appears below the list.

  1. Invest your life in what you love.
  2. Embrace enthusiasm.
  3. Don’t complain. Make things better.
  4. Trust and empower.
  5. Experiences > Money
  6. Surround yourself with like-minded people.
  7. Collaborate.
  8. Ignore haters.
  9. Make time to think and breathe.
  10. If an opportunity scares you, take it!
  11. Be someone’s eccentric aunt.
