Resources

I am a huge believer in learning as much as you can and in using all the tools at your disposal to do so, including blogs and podcasts. Here are a few that I’ve stumbled upon that I really enjoy.

– Katie

  • Co.Create and Co.Design – These blogs, by Fast Company, have really interesting stories. I recommend signing up for the daily emails instead of using an RSS to read them because the design and visuals of the email are so powerful.
  • Communication Arts – I’m a subscriber to their magazine, which also gets you access to their full website content. My typical method is to follow them on social media and read the magazine. Then anything I see that I like I pin to inspiration boards on Pinterest.
  • Digital Photography School – I dream of having the time to develop my photography skills. I copy a lot of the articles on this site to my Evernote notebooks for future reference.
  • Disney Parks Blog – The Walt Disney Company is pretty high on my list of companies doing communications and marketing well. I love reading their blogs just for ideas that I might be able to adapt to my own work. (Also, I wanted to be an Imagineer when I was a kid, and I’m still a big fan!)
  • eduStyle – This website is a gallery and resource for web and publication designers working in education.
  • Embedded Podcast – I follow several NPR podcasts, as they’re all great examples of storytelling. This one digs deep on one news story per episode.
